Answer:  The Hatcher’s will adjust to their new life in Princeton with time and probably grow to enjoy living there.  Peter will probably make new friends and like it there.

What was the cause and effect when Fudge was pouting and crying to his mother on page 43 par. 12?

Cause:  Fudge got into trouble for shaking Tootsie in her crib.
Effect:  Fudge got a spanking from his mother.

Thinking

On p. 31 par. 3 Peter tell his parents he does not want to go to school.  Why do you think Peter talks like this to his parents?  How do you think Peter felt?

Answer:  Peter was talking to his parents like this because he did not want to leave the city and go somewhere totally different where he did not have friends and had to go to school with his younger brother.  Peter was feeling upset and angry because he did not think it was fair that they had to move away from the city.

Answer:

On page 37 Peter’s problem was that he was having a fight with his best friend Jimmy Fargo because he is moving to Princeton.  Peter solved his problem by talking to his Jimmy Fargo and working their problem out.  I predict Peter will solve his problem by trying to find a way to talk to his friend Jimmy and figure out a way they can see each other when Peter moves.  I would solve Peter’s problem if I were him by calling Jimmy Fargo and talking out their differences, this may make Jimmy and Peter forgive each other.

Mood

What was Mrs. Hatcher’s mood when she found out that Fudge put trading stamps all over Tootsie on page 44?

Answer:  Mrs. Hatcher was very upset with Fudge and was in a bad mood, but once Fudge starting talking about the incident she lightened up and tried hard not to laugh at Fudge’s humor.
